Meet Dr. Swanzey-Mahon
Dr. Swanzey-Mahon is a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Maryland. She is a 2009 graduate of the American School of Professional Psychology, where she earned her Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology with a Concentration in Health Psychology. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Dr. Swanzey-Mahon works with a variety of age groups, including adolescents and teens, adults, and older adults. She has training in a variety of therapeutic modalities but relies most heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a Person-Centered approach. She values empathic, non-directive, collaborative therapy, helping clients build a personal toolbox of techniques they can use to overcome life's challenges and achieve self-actualization.
Dr. Swanzey-Mahon has a particular interest in treating both mood and anxiety disorders. She has worked with individuals suffering from depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, specific phobias, and a variety of neurological disorders. In addition, Dr. Swanzey-Mahon has worked with trauma survivors, as well as individuals currently in crisis.
A 1999 graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center, Dr. Swanzey-Mahon is licensed to practice law in both Maryland and Washington, DC. As a former practicing attorney, she is specially equipped to help attorneys and other professionals navigate workplace stress and build professional resilience.
